1:76 Scale model of a Volkswagen Split Screen T1 Camper produced in die-cast metal. This model is delivered on a black base with an attached clear jewel case ready to be displayed. It can also be unscrewed from the base and placed on your model railway or diorama.
After the VW Beetle, the VW T1 is probably the most iconic vehicle to emerge from the German car manufacturer, making its debut in 1949/50. Known as either the Kombi or in the UK as the Camper, it provided decades of pleasure to fun-loving motorists of all ages and is still much sought after today, despite its rudimentary internal fittings and inadequate heating system which gave out minimal heat to its travelling occupants until a more efficient upgrade much later! Engine capacity of these first VW Campers ranged from 1.1L to 1.6L, all fuelled by petrol.
Here we see the T1 in a favourite colour scheme of the era – turquoise and white, registered DRR 354B from 1964. Featuring the early split windscreen, giving it the name Splittie amongst fans, external trim is finished in both white and silver, carrying through to the wheels and the interior seating is turquoise, reflecting the body colour, rounded off with a pale grey floor. We love the louvred windows too!
